The Cricketers
Architect: Alston Architects
Constructed in the Norfolk countryside, this house was a renovation and extension to a 1930’s farm workers house, designed to merge into the landscape with minimal environmental impact. The existing house was a two-storey semi-detached masonry structure. The works included a wraparound extension adding large amounts of ground floor space with new openings in the facades of the property to create a large open living space. Using a mixture of construction materials such as brickwork to reflect the existing building, efficiently designed steelwork to the extension roof allowing the support of green roof and clad in lightweight timber slats to match the vernacular of the nearby agricultural barns.
The project was commended in the Design and Craftsmanship award for Norwich and Norfolk in 2021.
