Mile End Close
RW Structures completed the structural design for an extensive refurbishment of this detached house in Norwich, Norfolk. Originally built in 1928 the main structure is of typical masonry construction with timber infill floors and a pitched cut-rafter roof.
The scheme involved remodelling the internal walls throughout and adding a wrap around zinc clad extension with a glazed facade. The modern architectural design required the structure to be minimal and hidden within the width of the walls and floor plates. In addition, the project involved removing a rear corner of the existing masonry structure to link the new extension spaces into an open plan living area.
Also included in the design was a bespoke steel framed fireplace installed as a centre piece to the kitchen/living area.
